CSF Walk for Education - Thanks to All! Saturday, November 05, 2005 (03:02:35)
Posted by Annie
On Sunday, October 23, an enthusiastic community of friends, neighbors, families, and even grandparents braved the wind and rain to gather together for Chelmsford Strides Forward, A Walk for Chelmsford Schools. Organized by the Chelmsford Schools Foundation, more than one hundred walkers raised money to support quality public education in our Chelmsford schools.
The board members of the Chelmsford Schools Foundation would like to recognize our supporters and thank all of the volunteers who helped make this event such a success. Thanks to Deb Nagan-Lee and Janice Taranto, whose phone calls helped bring in sponsors for the event. For the use of the tents, thank you to Darlene Fertitta, and Jay and Janice Taranto. Mary Kay Emero brought all of the balloons decorating our booths; and Dale Phillips’ daughter, Bridget Phillips, tirelessly painted children’s faces. Darlene Fertitta’s daughter, Kara, and her friends did a fantastic job manning the water station.
The Chelmsford Schools Foundation couldn’t be more pleased with the community support shown at our event! SodaPopTheClown delighted children with balloon creations, while the Chelmsford Fire Department rolled out an engine for the kids to climb on! Our top sponsors included Center Sports, GreenMan Technologies, Scholastic, EmbroidMe, Vision Appraisal Technology, Paul A. Duggan Co. Fine Watches, and the Chelmsford Independent. Food for the event was generously provided by Market Basket, Hannaford, Dunkin Donuts, and Lupien's Apple Orchard. Many other local businesses donated a variety of gift certificates and prizes as well.
The success of Chelmsford Strides Forward proves again that Chelmsford is a community that truly cares about its public schools. We thank everyone who participated for their continued dedication to our town’s greatest and most valuable asset, the children of Chelmsford.
See you next year!
